Unfortunately, this has created an entire industry of scams designed to take advantage of your naivety and bilk you out of hundreds, or even THOUSANDS of dollars - all the while promising to "make you a star" or "at least look like one!"
But the fact is, if you know where to go, you can get a real start for very little or no money at all, and learn enough of the basics to really succeed in one of the most glamorous and exciting industries in the world.
Internationally published photographer Rick Wooton - nominated for the Better Business Bureau's 2007 Integrity In Business Awards, has been training and photographing new models since 1970.
